How Are YOU Preventing Lyme Disease?
What is Lyme Disease?
Lyme disease is a bacterial infection caused by Borrelia burgdorferi (and rarely Borrelia mayonii), spread to humans through the bite of infected blacklegged ticks (also known as deer ticks). It often begins with symptoms such as fever, headache, and fatigue, and a characteristic "bull's-eye" rash called erythema migrans, though not everyone develops the rash. If untreated, the infection can spread to the joints, heart, and nervous system, but most cases are successfully treated with a course of antibiotics when caught early.

Dr. Lisa Heather Torbert
Cancer on a harley... or is it? lyme disease
The story intertwines two medical diagnoses—Leukemia and Lyme disease. Lisa's husband was diagnosed with Leukemia in January 2017, enduring harsh chemotherapy that left him transformed and fragile, sparking a journey of gratitude, fear, and heartbreak as they explored both conventional and alternative treatments. Unexpected testing during alternative therapies like IV Vitamin C revealed he also had Lyme disease and Babesia, raising doubts about whether an undiagnosed tick-borne infection contributed to or mimicked his cancer symptoms. The book merges these intertwined illnesses, blending anti-inflammatory diets, supplements, and standard medical approaches while citing evidence from long-lived cancer-free populations and stage 4 survivors to suggest infections may be a hidden common thread in fighting both diseases.
